New Product Developer ( Food Industry )

Our Little Island based company is hiring an NPD Co-ordinator – Maternity Cover for approx 9 months.

The new hire manages the product portfolio, including the development of new products and the improvement of new products as well as managing strategic specific projects that help advance and grow the business. The Product and Project Manager will be knowledgeable of the company’s products, services and processes and be able to use that understanding to effectively execute successful project management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Management:

· Project manages new & existing product development projects, working cross departmentally with finance, supply chain, production, quality, sales and marketing to introduce new/improved products/ranges to the business in line with clear company strategy.

· Manage structured development process throughout the company to guarantee successful launch of new products into the marketplace.

· Working with mangers ensure implementation and execution of all new products are aligned to process capabilities, commercial targets, sustainable methods, food and labelling legislation, customer requirements and within agreed timescales.

· Support the quality manager to ensure seamless execution of NPD.

· Support the quality manager with new product specification creation, shelf life testing timelines, new supplier agreements and compliance.

· Coordinate and gather feedback on existing products to ensure that they meet specifications and live up to brand expectations and bench marking against competitors.

· Gather and coordinate internal/external feedback on new product ideas

· Ensure benchmarking against competitor products and tasting comparisons is completed, when required.

· Ensure post new product launch performance is tracked.

· Assist with the tracking of the NPD annual budget, keeping within budget and keeping clear records of costs incurred.

· Recording Research and Development costs where appropriate.

· When applicable manage any team members to high standards and to company HR processes

· Ensure company wide communication and updates from the product management team are shared regularly. Foster open honest communication and co-operation with all other departments.

· Ensure that conflict is speedily resolved and in co-operation with senior management.

· Maintain a clean and neat working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping. Instil within the Company a sense of awareness and pride regarding plant appearance and product care.

· Promote and actively engage in an environment of compliance, continuous improvement, responsiveness to change and innovation within the Company.

· Seek feedback regularly on your performance, and engage in giving feedback openly & respectfully to manager and team.

· Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Desirable but not essential – minimum 2 years’ experience in strategic project management role.
Degree in business/marketing, or other relevant education
Skills and Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ensure NPD tasks are clearly assigned to relevant colleagues and follow up to ensure completion.

· An eye for detail and the ability to maintain a very high level of accuracy.

· Ability to analyse data.

· Creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.

· Strong IT skills

· Not afraid to take responsibility with a ‘can do’, problem solving attitude.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term

Contract length: 9 months

Pay: €42,000.00-€49,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 32 – 39 per week
