She quoted our recent survey:
‘67% of people reported there being no policy of flexibility within their organisations, yet a shopping 92% of respondents would leave their current role for a position that offered flexible work. This should be a wake-up call for employers..
58% of people would not feel confident asking for flexibility and the reasons given make for grim reading:
“Most of management are male and unapproachable when it comes to flexibility”
“I’m afraid to ask, as it will be seen as an inconvenience”
“I asked and they said to find another job”
‘Confidence is a major issue – whether it is getting back into the workplace after having kids r trying to negotiate a more flexible position, it’s the one big issue we come up against every day”
Last year, 20% of our placements were male and we are seeing a slow but definite attitude shift in how people look at flexible work. Companies are realising that by offering flexibilty, they can reach a wider pool of talent and obtain and retain the best people out there’
